May exams are in progress

Image
Hey there, Here I am in Moscow. So busy that can hardly remember rest at Creta and all the bright days there. Now almost every day I examine as exams are growing in popularity in Russia. They are mostly YLE and KET/PET. But from time to time - FCE or BEC. I don't complain as YLE I really love and the kids are so funny and sincere. They are from Rublevo Uspenskoe, Minskoe shosse and other posh areas of Moscow. Today I examined in Mitino and was pleasantly surprised how beautiful metro carriages have become on this metro line in Moscow. There are very good pictures in every carriage specially lit and in a good wooden frame. It's a luxury! In the evening we went to Mayakovsky theatre where we enjoyed "Amurs in the Snow" play. Well love and hugs to all of you...

Last days at Creta

Image
Hi there, Tomorrow we're leaving and it's a pity as Creta island has been sunny, welcoming and bright, as usual. Crystal-clear water (22C) was rather still and we had only 2 days with pretty rough sea. our trip to the lake and the monastery was a one day trip and we really enjoyed it. Have a look at some pics I made with my iPhone as big camera needs cable, which I left behind in Moscow. Love and hugs to all of you...

Hello from Creta..

Image
Hey there,I'm posting from Creta island where we're staying at the hotel Lyttos Beach, just 1 min walk from the Sea. We arrived yesterday and fell in love with the place which is 20 min drive from Hirraclion, the capital city. The sea is not very warm, it's about 22 above zero, but I swim and some other people do the same. The water is blue and crystal clear, unlike the Black Sea or South China Sea. We booked one tour to the monastery and the lake in the mountains. Will post from there.Love and hugs to all of you:))

First meeting with my greatgrandson Klim

Image
Hey there, I haven't posted for a long time. Now I'm trying to catch up with what I missed. Today we have been to Stasik to see my great grand son Klim who was born on January 7th and was baptised Russian Orthox Chrisitian on Thusday, April 11th. It was at the Church of Kazanskaya Virgin Mary in Kotelniki area of Moscow. It is an old church where Russian Tsar Nikolos II and his family oftent had been to. We got acquinted with Kate's parents - Nadezhda and Igor. They are nice and warm people who love Stasik. He is a very loving and considerate young fater. Even though we spent in a huge traffic jam almost 3 hours, we really loved our visit and all we saw there. There were Marina and Stepka, too. Stepka has become a lovely 4-year old boy. I'm happy that Stasik is now surrounded by loving and kind people. Klimka is so cute, like a toy-boy. Have a look at some pics and let's keep our fingers crossed for them...Hugs and love to all of you

Meeting Lena in Moscow

Image
Hey there, Blizzard is over and sunny but cold weather is here again. It was a hard week as I've had exams and graduation presentations of my 4th year students at HSE. But still I managed to see Lena who is in Moscow now doing her usual theatrical business with American students. We spent some time in a cafe talking about our nearset and dearest people - Dima, Nun Anna, Olia and others. It was very nice to see Dima's book and learn about its success and other things about Dima's business. I think all changes regarding Dima's business are for better and sooner or later they must have happened...So it's just matter of time. Well, love and hugs to all of you.

Blizzard in Late March in Moscow

Image
For 3 days already it has been very windy and snowy in Moscow.Awful blizzard is here to stay... It's very unpleasant as we are fed up with this cold and snow for so long. Everybody is looking forward to spring now. But it does not seem to come this year. I left my new car behind at dacha as I was afraid of not being able to drive it on icy road. So I was stumping through showdrifts to the train station. Well, still looking forward to better weather , hopefully:((

Sochi March 16

Image
I have been in Sochi on March 15/16 on CI business. It was a gymnazium where I spent 8 hours watching candidates doing Cambridg English exams. After that I spent a couple of hours driving around Sochi in taxi and talking with drivers. Sochi has become a very urban city with many skyscrapers along the Kurortniy alley. Traffic jams are awful, worse than in Moscow. Winter Olympic Games are coming and this makes Sochi not a cosy and nice a place as it used to be when I was a child and went to Sochi with my Granny. It's a pity...I'm sorry for Sochi:(( Love and hugs to you..

Barselona is amazing!!

Image
Hi everybody, I am here in Moscow and slightly unwell after my 4 day trip to Barselona. It lasted from 28 Feb to March 5th. It was really tiring but very exciting. We arranged in Barselona a kind of family reunion - Dad, me, Olya and Masha (she arrived from Munich, to see Olya). Barselona is a stunning place with its narrow streets and the Sea, which is beautiful and gorgeous... Olia is pregnant and it's OK, as the girl who is about to be born in June is a long awaited one. So have a look at some magnificent pics we made there (Gaudi's masterpieces and other places and shots). Hope you love it. Hugs and kisses...:))

Back from Norwich

Image
Hey there, I could not post any earlier as I got back from England only some days ago (10-18Feb) and was piled up with work. Now that I'm at dacha I can post some pics and make some comments. Overall, it was both positive and negative experience. Norwich is a small city 185km north-east of London, typically British and very cosy. However, cold weather without snow and with harsh wind made staying at NILE school classes (seminars were held there)pretty uncomfortable. Three star hotel (TraveLodge) was not very good either. Some of my fellow-teachers, who are writing a book with me (under the guidance of BC Moscow,) were unfriendly at times , which made me walk around the cities all alone. On Thursday we went to Cambridge (CUP) where we had a small reception and they showed us old publishing equipment and warehouse. It was very nice and pleasant in Cambridge as it's a splendid city, more sunny than Norwich. On Friday we moved to London, Paddington. It's full of small 3-star ho...
