My favourite city Chicago!!!
Today, my husband and I are leaving for Vietnam on our joint vocation till September 3d. Nevertheless, I hope to be with you at school at 3p.m. on September 6th. Don't forget about that!
But now I'm really looking forward to staying in this unusual country as my husband Stanislav, who has been there many times on business, fell in love with this country and convinced me that it's the best destination for both of us to go. Well, I'll write about Vietnam lated on, but now I want to go on writing about my favourite city in the US - Chcago. I've been there several times and each time I get a slightly different but really long lasting impression. It's Amedican Mid-West, some 400 miles from Indianapolis. First thing I did before going was that I hired a car for 3 days. It was A Dodge "Stratus", a pretty big American car which was equipped with GPS (General Positioning System) system. It's so great that I could have written a long account of using it in travelling around America. As I have no space and time for that, I can say that it allows you to drive without knowing maps, names of roads and numbers of highways. What you need is the name and address of your destination. The GPS will tell you what to do on the road , giving directions where to go, which exit to take, where to change your lane and keep right or left. It's really pleasure and fun to use GPS on American roads. So I set off on Thusday planning to stay at the hotel by Michigan Lake and travel to Chicago by rail as I'd never used American rail before.
Chicago was gorgeous and full of new street sculptures. I enjoyed walking on Michigan street and watching people taking boat rides on it. I hope you'll see this from photos. And another thing I want to discribe: I stayed at a small typically American provincial Hotel. These hotels are called Inns there as this word is an ols English name for a small homelike hotel there. My hotel- "Indiana Dunes Spring House" was a sort of that, with the only bad thing there - fast food for breakfast. Thre were also quite a number of pretty overweight people staying there. So have a look and enjoy my photos. Have a good time for the rest of the summer!!! See you in September.
