Yaroslavl and Choboksary and more

Hey, here I am, alive and kicking dispite some bad things that have occured in my life since December 13, Friday. On this day Marina and I went together to Yaroslawl to collect Nun Anna'a annual pension for 2013. Quite a lot of money. We stayed at Ibis hotel, just in the centre, as in 2012. In the morning we went to Sberbank and got the money with no problems. After that we dropped in 'Rostov Fenift' shoip on Kirova street and I bought New year gifts for Olia and myself. Then we decided to go to Tolgsky monastery near Yaroslawl and took a taxi to drive there. It was very nice there, we walked, observed, took pics. Then in the evening we got back to Moscow by train and I reached Preobrazhenskaya metro at 11:20pm. I was walking very fast from metro to my house when I was attacked from behind by someone who hit me on the head and started to stifle me on the neck. I fainted and when I got back - no iPhone, no bag with all the money and docs, nothing... The rest of this story I don't want to remember as I spent long hours in a police office and nothing happened. Now, I feel very bad about this incident and blame myself for being not very coutious...
In a week I went to Cheboksary for inspection with a card- a temporary replacement for my Russian




passport. Cheboksary inspection was fine.
Love and hugs to all of you and don't spread this news to anybody else as Slava will not be happy with this news reaching Olia and others.

My trip to Saratov came to an end on December 8th. It was fine and I had really many regrets that they had a lot of snow there, in Saratov, whereas in Moscow it's grey and sleazy. ESOL people there are really efficient and everything was well organized. My FCE examining on December 8th in Moscow was nothing special, without any unexpected things. Thanks God for that! The best news is that today I've met my new FCE group in school 1359, Zhulebino. They are all pretty young, from 8th form, and seemed to be very cute. We decided to split the group into two ones in March, after our CAE boys and girls have done the examination. I'll tell you more about the new group as soon as I know about them more. That's all for now.

NY's best square - Times Square

Did you know which square in NY can be compared with Red Square in Moscow, Champs-Elysées in Paris, Trafalgar Square in London and so on? Sure, it is Times Square, which has achieved the status of NY's landmark and has become a symbol of Manhattan. We first saw Times Square in the evening and it looked so amazingly familiar to us as if we'd known it for ages (of course, we did not but this picture is stuck in everybody's memory in Russia from films and ads). Times Square is situated between Sixth and Ninth Avenues from east to west, and West 39th and West 52nd Streets from south to north. It makes up the western part of the Midtown Manhattan. It should be seen in the evening as it's full of bright lights then. Have a look!

Late July - August 2023 - December 2023

Hi there. It’s a shame, but I haven’t posted for so long! Here I’ll try to catch it up chronologically as this period has been full of many sad and unpredictable events:    Late July - 2023: Flight to Bosporus, area Taxim. Spent there a great time with Olia, Slav and kids. 11August - 16 August: Flight to Jordanville convent to say ‘Good Bye’ to my dearest aunt - Mother Anna. She was about to pass away. This took place on August 17, just after my leaving. Thanks God I managed to see her for 2 days and talked to her, even though it was really difficult for her.. Before that (in April 2023) Olia, David and kids visited Mother Anna. She looked much better at that time - see their photo. Next to this pic, there is my photo with her, which was taken in 1956. . Early October 2023: our flight to Belek Turkey with our friends - Lara and Sasha: it was a nice chance to distract from grievances we experienced in August.
