Great weekend with music, exams and Stephan

Image
This weekend, though it is grey and overcast but warm (+20), I've spent very productively. First, we went to Pavel Slobodkin's chamber music centre where we enjoyed Mozart's under Candles concert. It was really good as the musicians were young and beautiful as well as music, which they performed so well. it is at Arbat, next to Vakhtangova theatre. Second was FCE exam in the town of Dmitrov, which is one of the former centers of ancient Russ' and it is beautiful too. And the last joy was my walks with Stephan around the lake with two playgrounds. He's become so interesting and talkative. Good kid...Here are some pics I made...Love and hugs:))

Trip to Vienna and last days in Tihany

Image
Hey there, yesterday we spent the whole day in Vienna leaving from our hotel at 7am and getting back late in the evening. It was a long and pretty tiring drive across the Hungarian-Austrian border and then to Vienna but it was worth it. The city is absolutely amazing and charming. It reminded me about Barselona, with many nice cafes and typical for German counties gothic architecture. Many things in the city are connected with music and opera. In Vienna, there are also nontraditional artists with their own vision of life and its beauty, e.g. Hunderwasser and his strange forms of buildings and pictures. Vienna has many historic monuments to emperors and a famous Maria Teresia sculpture in the centre reminds about Elizaveta Petrovna who was her friend. We had no time for museums but we dropped in a St Peter's castle just in the heart of Vienna. There we enjoyed a free organ music concert. Such concerts are held every day! Amazing city! After concerts we enjoyed Austrian strudels with...

Hi from Tikhan Club

Image
Hey there. Here we are at Tikhan Club on Balaton lake. It it a small peninsula stretching out into Balaton lake and Tikhan Club is the very southern part of it. The lake's surroundings are beautiful, yet the lake itself is shallow and not crystal clear. I guess 3 meters deep is the maximum. We swim and walk around.I enjoyed standing board with paddles to ride around our beach and place. That's all for now. Have a look at some pics we made in the village and around the place.

Hello from Budapesht

Image
Hey there,Here we are at BohemiaArt Hotel, just in the centre of Budapesh. It's very hot here, above 30C and we were pleasantly surprised then started looking for cooling ourselves. The greatest event of the first day was our bus trip around the city and finally going to the concert of organ music in the St. Steven Basilika where the best performers gave an impressive concert of small and grand organs, trumpet music and opera singing. I wish I could take pics but it was forbidden. The concert was great! We loved Ave Maria song in three variants from very old to the most recent. Almost of authors of music were Italian. Have a look at some pics..Love and hugs to all...

Last days at dacha before Hungary

Image
Hey there, The late July in Moscow was pretty wet and cold. Not very sunny days make life less enjoyable in summer. Yet, Marina, Kostya,Stephan and Granny Masha got back from Anapa where they spent 2 weeks swimming in the sea. They are happy but Kostya hurt his right thumb and now he can hardly walk. Stephan has become more talkative and outgoing. He's very funny and nice. Tomorrow we're flying to Hungary and then to Balaton lake. I hope we have a good time there.Love and hugs to all of you. Look at some pics...

Slava's B-Day at Belgorod

Image
Hey there, We've just returned from Belgorod where we stayed for 4 days at Belyi Gorod Hotel. It's not a bad hotel as it has been just built and has modern rooms and design. Slava arranged an ex-classmated reunion as almost all of them turned 60. The stay was nice and memorable as we visited some good places and felt the atmosphere of an old Russian(Soviet) city which is clean, neat but a bit boring. Their theatre is closed for summer and parks are very Soviet. Have a look at some pics. LOve and hugs to all:))

Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood

Image
Hey there. Today I've been to a marvellous exhibition, which has been prepared for five years by British Council Pushkin Museum, Tate Gallery etc. It shows a special period of the development of art - Master Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. They appealed to the period of the Middle Ages, the time of the basis of Renaissance art. I've never been so much impressed by any exhibition at the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts but this one is a MUST. They impressed me so much that now I want to buy the book about this Brotherhood. Look at some pics I made there. We went to the exhibition with Alla,a friend of mine since MSU times. It was outstanding!!! Have a look at this site and you'll get some moments. Love and hugs...

Our B-girl Yana and Dad' s Birtdays

Image
Hey there,This week has been the most memorable week of all times. Two great birthdays one after another took place. First was Yana, our first B-grandgirl born in Sf by Olia on June 28th at 8pm. A pretty creature weighing 3400gm and 49cm long. Good job, Olia! Second was our Dad's 60s jubilee on July 3d, which was celebrated both at his University office with colleagues, guests and students and at dacha - with only our nearest and dearest - Marina, Kostya, Stepa. Both events were really warm and memorable. Not only presents, gifts and flowers but songs and many good words addressed to Slava. He is really popular with his colleagues and numerous students and he really worth all this attention...I wish all of us were together during this great week but we are so far away now...Anyway, you're still with us in your and our thoughts and this is the point! Love and hugs to all...:))

Yerevan Trip during Apricot Season

Image
Hey there, here am I, just got back from Yerevan trip on ESOL business. It was almost a 3 day stay there so I had the first day completely devoted to the Etchmiadzin city and the Mother Cathedral of Holy Etchmiadzin. Its first church dates back to the times when Armenia became one of the first officially Christian country in the world (4th century). Then the patriarch gave the church and the city the new name of Echmiadzin. Now it is a centre for preparing Armenian church leaders and it is very grand and gives the impression of something very strong. Many young people come there to see young religious students and leaders. The apricot trees are full of rape fruit and they are very sweet and juicy. Yerevan is a good-looking and warm city too with many pink buildings and small yards which reminded me about my childhood in Tbilisi. It is only 400km away from Yerevan, very close actually but behind the mountains. Have a look at some pics... Love and hugs to all of you...
