Examining in May- June (Saratov-Omsk-Novosibirsk-Tyemen-Ekaterinburg)

Dear all,
here I am in Moscow again after many examining trips around Russia. I really enjoy travelling, so I don't want to complain. There were ups and downs in my trips, as usual, but generally these trips were exciting and memorable. I'll describe them one by one.
17/18 May - Saratow, just after coming back from Vietnam. It was nice and well organised, thanks to Barbara Danshina, the local woman in charge. The Volga river there is very wide and we even enjoyed sailing a jet boat belonging to Barbara's family. See some pictures above.
23-26 May - Omsk. It's a beutuful Russian city in Siberia, close to Kazakhstan. It's full of old buildings and houses, many theatres and cafes with relatively good food and prices. The main church has been restored there and now it dominates over the city centre. Their major Saint is St. Silvester who was tortured and murdered in 1920. The remains of his body is kept inside the church in regarder as a shrine. Have a look and go to Omsk if there is any opportunity.
26-27 May Novosibirsk. First, have a look at those would be solders I shot on a bridge in Novosibirsk Railway Station. They are nice and ordinary Russian boys going to the army, for one year, far from home. Anyway, the brightest impression in Novosibirsk was their Opera and Balley Theatre, just in the centre of the city. I saw Boyaderka balley there and enjoyed it greatly. The dancing was fabulous. The dancers were all Russian but living all over the world since Russian balley is really famous and the dancers are valued in many countries. See the pictures.
3-5 June - Tyemen. It was my first time there. The town is rather small and cosy. Clean streets and good roads. Many nice cars and Gas stations with bright ads. The candidates there were pretty strong and confident. Perhaps, parents' money makes them more self assured. The town is full of old churches, which I took photos of. We went to the art gallery and to the "Bridge of Love" Young couples put metal locks on the bars and write their names. See the photos.
6-8 June - Ekaterinburg. It was so bitterly cold there that I had to buy warm shoes as mine fell apart. The streets and cafes and the churches there are as usual gorgeous. But the weather spoiled the impression. There is an impressive monument to Russian solders who died in Afganistan called "Black Tulip". I think it conveys the idea of death and desperation as it shows a young man sitting with his head almost on his knees...The result of fear and exhaustion? I examined there with my ex-student Ilya Lugovoi. It was funny as he has become a little bit too self confident. But it's my opinion. Maybe I'm not wright and my vision of him is not completely objective. Have a look at some photos there.
Tomorrow I'm leaving for N. Novgorod. Hope to have a good time there.
