I've paid the money for the FCE- December 2007

Image
Dear all, On Monday, I paid the money for four of you, namely Marina, Kiril, Ann and Sergei. His Dad brought the money just before me filling in the forms at the British Council. I don't know about other students. If they wish to sit the exam in December, they'll have to do all the formalities themselves before Friday, September 28th. But there will be crowds of people and lines to the cash desk. Well, I still welcome you to use my site for Writing. Your login and passwords I've already given to you. If you experience problems reaching your page, call or e-mail me. Now, I'm publishing some more photos from Vietnam. Here you can see our friends from Texas - John and Honey. John used to be a young US solder in the Vietnamise war. At that time he was 19 years old. He goes to Vietnam every five or six years so as to watch this contry's development. He's glad that Vietnam is becoming a really good place to visit and live. Just as my husband and I, John and his wife H...

I've been silent for such a long time since I've experienced some problems with my server and internet connection. Our LAN server is changing or upgrading something but we, users, have to suffer. Now I would like to remind all of you that you have to bring 5 600 rubls on September 20th as I'll be paying the money for the FCE on Friday. I'll start publishing the hometasks since next week as I hope my internet access will become better soon. I do advise you to use my site for Writing. The link is on t...

I've just come back from my vocation in Vietnam.

Image
Dear all. First of all, I'd like to apologize to you for not being able to run classes on September 6th as I was scheduled to work on the "Book Fair" for the CenterCom. This event is held annually on the Moscow Exhibition of Achievements. So I was busy consulting the visitors on choosing ELT books. I'm going to see you on September 13th at usual time - 3pm and 5pm. Now I'd like to share with you my experiences I got on my vocation in Vietnam. I've spent 13 days there( from August 21 to September 2d) with my husband. He has been to this country on business many times and convinced me that we should go together this time. Frankly speaking, I was pretty suspecious about this country and conditions there as I've been to a number of European countries and thought that this South-Eastern holiday would be nothing better. However, I was very much mistaken as life in Vietnam is really very different from that of Europe; yet it is really both amazing and well organ...

My favourite city Chicago!!!

Image
Today, my husband and I are leaving for Vietnam on our joint vocation till September 3d. Nevertheless, I hope to be with you at school at 3p.m. on September 6th. Don't forget about that! But now I'm really looking forward to staying in this unusual country as my husband Stanislav, who has been there many times on business, fell in love with this country and convinced me that it's the best destination for both of us to go. Well, I'll write about Vietnam lated on, but now I want to go on writing about my favourite city in the US - Chcago. I've been there several times and each time I get a slightly different but really long lasting impression. It's Amedican Mid-West, some 400 miles from Indianapolis. First thing I did before going was that I hired a car for 3 days. It was A Dodge "Stratus", a pretty big American car which was equipped with GPS (General Positioning System) system. It's so great that I could have written a long account of using it in t...

Hello there. I got your certificates. More about a good mid-west American neigbourhood

Image
Dear all. I collected your certificates from the BC Moscow. I mean the group which sat FCE in March. They look splendid. I'll keep them at home before I can see you or O.G. at school in September. Only Vlad Vadukov had collected his certificate himself from the BC. The rest of them (7) are waiting for their owners.Well done!!! Well, today I'll tell you about how peaceful and comfortable life in a good mid-west American neigbourhood is. You can clearly see this in the photos. It is, for example, in the way streets and grass are sprinkled every evening, in splendid views of a golf-course, some wildlife and the way people decorate their yards in front of the houses. Mind, fences don't exist in the mid-west of the US, whatsoever. If there is a fence, it would be white and made of wood so that it prevents pets from running away and looks very beautiful. Sometimes a fence is an invisible electric wire hidden in the land. The whole impression you get there is of space, order, fa...

Back from Indianapolis, here I'm in Moscow.

Image
Dear all. I must apologize for not posting to the blog for so long. I got back from the US July 17th and experienced a very strong discomfort caused by jet lag. It was worse than when I arrived to the US from Moscow. So it took me some 10 days to get used to the time and the way things happen here, in Moscow. Now, I can start telling you about my amazing summer stay at my cousin's Dmitry house in Indianapolis, state Indiana. Firstly, I was very busy every moment of my stay there. I was kept busy by my brother and his wife Elena. Secondly, the internet access there was limited as either my brother Dmitry or his wife were doing something on the Web. Anyway, I did my best to take as many photos as possible to share them with you later. Some of them are really funny and show American life from the perspective of middle class or even wealthy Americans. At the same time, some of these photos may seem very unusual for us, Russian people. If you ask me why - my answer will probably be the ...

Hello friends. I'm writing from America

Image
Dear all. I've been so busy lately so I really had no time to post to the blog. But it doesn't mean I forgot about it or ignored the importance of taking notes on my pretty hectic but really exciting life this year, 2007. As you know, I was in the USA in December 2006 till mid January 2007. And now here I am, in America again. The decision to go there occurred to me when my brother Dimitry, who has been living in the US since 1990, called me in the late May and invited me to stay with him for a while at the beginning of July 2007. Thanks God, I have a valid visa and the only problem was to buy a ticket and to talk my husband Stanislaw into my going there alone. He didn't want to go with me as it's neither cheap nor interesting to him (but not me). And now I'm staying with my cousin's family in the best area of Indianapolis, state Indiana. The name of the area is Fishers. It is inhabited by mostly professionals and well-off people. The houses and the state of the ...

I want to tell you more about Ekaterinburg

Image
Dear friends, have a look at Ekateringubg being built. I find its growth very fast and curious in many ways in contrast to other Russian towns. There are too many aggressive and intrusive ads and posters in the city, not to mention the fact that the city is not very clean and sunny. I hope the situation with cleanness and other things will change for the better very soon as the people there ( especially young) are very intelligent and special. It's my first impression there, which I don't think I'll change.

Hello there, I was examining in Ekaterinburg.

Image
Hello everyone. I've just got back from Ekaterinburg, where I was examining BEC (V), FCE and PET. My stay there was fine. It was my 4th visit to the city and I was glad to discover that Ekaterinburg had changed considerably for better. The city has become neater, many more new and business-like buildings around, huge posters, bright lights, but more importantly, really efficient and helpful people in shops and services. I loved the look of my hotel, a chain one - "Park Inn". I'm a seasoned traveller so I can say that this hotel offers a really high quality service. The look of the church blessed after the Tsar's Faminy and a new one which is being built on the outskirts of Ekaterinburg (not far from the exam venue) are splendid. The latter is blessed after the great Russian Saint Serafim Sarovsky. Have a look at them and get the first impression. As for sculptures erected for Soviet leders (Sverdlov), for example, I can say thet they don't look good, let alon...

I want to tell you about my aunt Nadya in Omsk

Image
She used to be a leading actress in the Omsk Drama Theatre. After retiring she has been living with her younger sister Luba in a big flat in the Stalin's House right on the bank of the Irtysh River in the centre of Omsk. The windows overlook the river and it creates a very special atmosphere when you want to reflect or simply forget about the routine of everyday life. Now my aunt doesn't work as she's 84 years old, but she still obtains her salary from the theatre and receives her ex-colleagues who come to see her with a bunch of flowers or a box of chocolate. They still remember and love her as she was the example for many young actors in Omsk. And you may've heard that Omsk Drama School is famous all over Russia as a lot of outstanding actors came from this school: Olga Aroseva, Yulianov, Dvorjetsky and others. I went to the theatre and watched a performance on the main stage where my aunt spent her last 20 years. The play was not very good but I enjoyed my time there!...
